About Us
About Us Alpha Chi Sigma is a co-ed professional chemistry fraternity that seeks to unite students with a love of chemistry and of the sciences in general. We also strive to teach others about the wonders of the chemical sciences through outreach activities in the community. What Do We Do? *Community Outreach* We participate in a variety of outreach events across the Twin Cities where we conduct chemical demonstrations for children, families, or more general audiences. Alpha Chi Sigma also organizes an annual Scouts BSA merit badge day where our members teach chemistry and engineering-related merit badges. *Professional Development* Professional events help connect members of the chapter with alumni of the fraternity who work in industry or academia, as well as UMN faculty. We work to connect each other with unique research and internship opportunities and help our members form a network of friends and colleagues in the field of chemistry. Our fraternity cares deeply about the welfare of its members and seeks to create a friendly and positive environment in every way possible. Members of Alpha Chi Sigma are heavily encouraged to support each other academically, mentally, and emotionally. Weekly study hours present an opportunity for members to collaborate or work individually on schoolwork, and we remind our members to focus on their academics and mental health first. Membership You do not need to be a chemistry major to join Alpha Chi Sigma -- we only request that you have an interest in the chemical sciences!
