About Us
The Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) is a pipeline program sponsored by SNMA (Student National Medical Association) to directly serve minority students through mentorship, education, and guidance. MAPS strives to create an inviting and culturally inclusive community in which minority pre-med students can thrive, learn, grow. We hope to increase the representation of underrepresented backgrounds in the medical field. We educate ourselves and our members about health inequities so that as future physicians, we can help address and decrease them. The purpose of our organization is to offer resources, support, and information to minority students that are interested in health care. We will also provide various opportunities for pre-med students, health professionals, and graduate students to network and interact with one another. MAPS organizes several workshops around the year for pre-medical students such as the Personal Statement Workshop and the Health Disparities Dinner. We also provide students with volunteer and research opportunities throughout the year.
