Mission
Welcome! We are the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Sigma Kappa - Women in Technical Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. We are a sorority of women and non-binary folks committed to achieving our academic goals and promoting women and gender minorities in technical fields, through leadership, friendship, and support. Our purpose is to promote friendship, academic achievement, unity within the organization, and philanthropy throughout the community. We welcome trans women, trans feminine women, non-binary, and non-conforming folks to this organization.



We are a unique sorority because we are both social and technical, participating in Greek life and a part of the University of Minnesota Panhellenic Council while accepting women in STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics). "Alpha Sigma Kappa" represents our social side, while "Women in Technical Studies" represents our goal of academic achievement.

The mission of an ASHRAE Student Chapter is to advance the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration (HVAC&R), and related fields while fostering student engagement in sustainability, innovation, and professional development. Student chapters provide technical education, hands-on experiences, and career growth opportunities through networking, internships, and scholarships. They encourage research, innovation, and participation in ASHRAE-sponsored projects and competitions while promoting energy-efficient building practices and sustainability efforts. Axiom is a literary magazine at the U specializing in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, ART, mathematics). We’re looking for any type of art, whether it be visual (painting, digital art, sculpture, etc.) or literary (poetry, prose, etc.), as long as there is an element of STEM in your work, you’re eligible to submit to Axiom! Your work can be as detailed as a lab report or as subtle as a painting/poem about an element of nature. We encourage creativity and do not limit submissions to just those who are pursuing a degree in STEM. If you have a passion for the natural world, Axiom would love to receive your work.

Care Tank Initiative unites students from all majors to design, develop, and launch innovative solutions that improve healthcare. Through interdisciplinary teamwork, hands-on projects, and real-world problem-solving, members tackle challenges in patient experience, mental health, health equity, and medical technology. By fostering creativity, leadership, and human-centered design, Care Tank Initiative empowers students to transform ideas into actionable solutions that make healthcare more accessible, inclusive, and effective for communities locally and beyond.

• Gain insight into cutting-edge neuromodulation technology for the treatment of neurologic and neuropsychiatric disorders.
• Explore the evolving roles of clinical professionals in a patient's journey as the surgical and non-invasive neuromodulatory treatments are being integrated into therapy for treatment-refractory mental illness.
• Network with faculty members and industry representatives in the field of neuromodulation.
• Discuss basic science, translational, and clinical research focusing on electrical, magnetic, ultrasound, neurochemical, and optogenetic technologies.

The Science and Sustenance Society is a student organization dedicated to exploring the science behind the food we eat—how it’s made, how it affects our bodies, and how different cultures around the world approach it. Through guided discussions and delicious food tastings, we aim to break down complex scientific concepts in biology, chemistry, nutrition, and food technology in a way that’s…digestible 
Each event will be structured around a theme, whether it’s the Maillard reaction in browning, the microbiology of fermentation, the physics of baking, or the biochemistry of flavor perception—followed by a tasting of a relevant dish. In addition to diving into science, we celebrate global cuisines and traditions, learning not just how food works, but what it means across cultures and how food can impact physical, mental, and social health.

We are the Alpha Beta Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc.

Sigma Lambda Beta is a historically Latino-based fraternity which supports a multicultural brotherhood through the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, Cultural Awareness, & Community Service. Our mission is to nurture and further a dynamic, values-based environment which utilizes our historically Latino-based fraternity as a catalyst to better serve the needs and wants of all people.

The Alpha Beta chapter at UMN was founded in 1999 and has supported a network of 129 brothers and counting. We pride ourselves on the diversity of our brotherhood through nationality/ethnicity, religion, orientation, and academic & career focus. Our alumni network consists of brothers in all types of career fields from data & technology to entertainment & film. We are the longest-standing fraternity of the Multicultural Greek Council and the only Latino-based fraternity on campus.

We as a chapter work to develop and support our undergraduate brothers personally and academically by hosting study nights, brother check-ins, and alumni development sessions focused on specific topics (personal finance, resume/interviews, etc.). We also encourage playing an active role in the community through community service and fundraising events and initiatives (Adopt-a-Highway, Halloween food drive, etc.) and supporting and representing marginalized and underrepresented communities on campus.

The mission of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is to substantially increase the representation of American Indians and Alaskan Natives in engineering, science, and other related technology disciplines. AISES employs a full circle of support model that begins with pre-college programs, progresses into collegiate life, and then into the professional years of members and on into retirement.

Outreach events, professional networking events, and national AISES conferences are the main focus of our organization. The AISES National Conference and AISES Leadership Summit are two such conferences that seek to expose American Indian students from across the country to STEM-related companies, professional development skills, and networking opportunities.
