7Days A Cappella is the oldest A Cappella group at the University of Minnesota! We're a co-ed group, meaning individuals of all genders are welcome to audition. 7Days performs at a variety of events all throughout the year; although we perform primarily in the Twin Cities area, we've traveled to places such as Boston, New York City, and Los Angeles to connect with other groups and perform at national A Cappella events!

Every year, 7Days competes in ICCA-- the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (think Pitch Perfect)! Past accomplishments include a first-place finish and 2 awards for Outstanding Arrangement and Outstanding Vocal Percussion at the Great Lakes Region Quarterfinals in 2020, as well as an Outstanding Vocal Percussion award in 2023 at the Great Lakes Region Quarterfinals. A Cause for Paws is dedicated to supporting animals by forming a community of animal lovers and volunteering together with rescues, sanctuaries, and shelters. As a group we participate in hands-on volunteer work. Such as visiting animal shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries to walk their animals, play with their animals, and any other needed volunteer work. We also attend various animal related events and host our own events on campus where we work on various types of animal related projects. We organize fundraising events to donate to various animal shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries. Additionally we work to spread information and awareness about where people can volunteer and donate, as well as any animal related events and opportunities they can be a part of.

A Helping Hand for the Homeless is a student group at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. Our goal is to bring warm clothing to homeless individuals in Minneapolis, Minnesota and to provide resources for them through a variety of means. We are currently working on partnering with homeless shelters in our local area, and our student group meetings will cover the logistics involving the setup of our events. We also hope to combat stigma surrounding homelessness. In order to join or participate in A Helping Hand for the Homeless, one can apply through our Google Form, linked below. As a member of our student group, you will learn about the barriers that homeless individuals face as well as how we can support underresourced populations. ADworld is a group of UMN students sharing interest in advertising and marketing. We conduct weekly meetings to promote productive discussions and produce creative deliverables.

The core value of ADworld is “creativity.” We foster creativity through various activities and marketing presentations. The group further promote the creative community by sharing our deliverables through social media such as Instagram, Facebook, and Blog.

ADworld pursues academic excellence by sharing knowledge on advertising and marketing through weekly discussions. In addition, we practice real experiences by working as the marketing agency for real clients. Furthermore, we encourage members to participate in various competitions and activities to gain field experiences.

In addition to academic activities, we create an enjoyable environment through networking with industry-related personnel and social gathering within club members. We regularly communicate with former ADworld members who are working in the related field to get advice and understand the market trend. Also, in addition to regular meetings, we hold many social gatherings to strengthen cohesiveness.

These are our regular activities:

Real Client Marketing Project: Adworld conducts marketing projects for real clients to promote their businesses and increase their sales. As a marketing agency, we analyze their marketing strategies and give solutions. In addition, ADworld plans and carries out promotions through various channels.

Public Campaigns: We organize public campaigns to attract social attention on specific topics. Throughout the process, we practice planning skills and gain experience implementing it.

Marketing Competition: Our members participate in marketing competitions as a team to gain real field experiences such as corporate strategy, marketing plan, and promotional methodologies.

Marketing / Advertisement Related Topic Discussion: ADworld conducts in-depth academic discussions on topics related to advertising or marketing to accumulate knowledge and understand the trend of the industry.

Agni is an Indian Classical Dance Team specializing in the south Indian dance style, Bharatanatyam. We perform at on campus and off campus events and are transitioning into the national competitive circuit as well. Our practices and performances are currently fully in person and twice a week. Auditions are held in the Fall and over the Summer. Information on joining can be obtained through our social media (@agni_minnesota on Instagram) or via email (agni@umn.edu).

Our mission: Agni Indian Classical Dance Team aims to provide an environment for individuals to embrace and immerse themselves in Indian culture and dance. Bharatanatyam is a popular dance form in the states, but many students lose touch with the art when they move to university. We strive to motivate individuals to get involved with their communities through dance and promote diversity through sharing our culture and art.

What do we do? Agni is a primarily Bharatanatyam-focused dance team, hence the name Agni, as Bharatanatyam represents the element of fire. We perform at on campus and off campus events and are looking into competitions as well. Our practices and performances are currently fully in person and twice a week for one hour each.

How can I get involved? At the beginning of each semester we hold a no-commitment workshop, where you'll learn a short piece (30sec-1min) that you can later choose to audition with. Results are announced within a week.

Leadership: As an Agni officer (President, Secretary, Marketing Director, or Finance Director), you learn organizational and management skills when reaching out to organizations for performances, coordinating practices, or advertising and promoting the group. In terms of dance, officers use choreography as a creative outlet and gain valuable teaching skills.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: We are more than just a dance team, we provide a means to connect to our historical and cultural roots. Our main dance form is Bharatanatyam, a classical dance originating in Tamil Nadu, India over 3000 years ago. Modernized in the late 1900's it's an integral part of Indian culture and familiar throughout South Asia.

Recreation and Health: Being a part of Agni is a great way for you to express your passion for dance while maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. We motivate each other to step out of our comfort zones and become better dancers. Not only do we promote physical health, but also mental health, as we're a family where you can take a break from the stress of school and life in general!

Alpha Chi Sigma is a co-ed professional chemistry fraternity that seeks to unite students with a love of chemistry and of the sciences in general. We also strive to teach others about the wonders of the chemical sciences through outreach activities in the community.

What Do We Do?

We participate in a variety of outreach events across the Twin Cities where we conduct chemical demonstrations for children, families, or more general audiences. Alpha Chi Sigma also organizes an annual Scouts BSA merit badge day where our members teach chemistry and engineering-related merit badges.

*Professional Development*
Professional events help connect members of the chapter with alumni of the fraternity who work in industry or academia, as well as UMN faculty. We work to connect each other with unique research and internship opportunities and help our members form a network of friends and colleagues in the field of chemistry.

Our fraternity cares deeply about the welfare of its members and seeks to create a friendly and positive environment in every way possible. Members of Alpha Chi Sigma are heavily encouraged to support each other academically, mentally, and emotionally. Weekly study hours present an opportunity for members to collaborate or work individually on schoolwork, and we remind our members to focus on their academics and mental health first.

Alpha Epsilon Pi is involved in the Greek community as an IFC fraternity, participating in Homecoming and Machy Days. Our chapter holds two principal philanthropic events per year: HeartBeat Week and The Red Dress Gala. Both of these events fundraise to support women's cardiac health and the Alpha Phi Foundation.

Alpha Phi Foundation :
In 1956, Alpha Phi became one of the first women’s fraternities to establish a Foundation. It was created as a trust agreement to award scholarships and promote cardiac aid. Today, the original priorities hold true in our five vital programs:

- Supporting innovative leadership training and programming led by Alpha Phi Fraternity
- Awarding scholarships to undergraduate and graduate Alpha Phis
- Investing in the advancement of women’s heart health
- Helping members in need through the Forget Me Not Grant Fund
- Celebrating the forward-thinking women that shaped Alpha Phi by preserving our rich heritage


Alpha Phi also supports the Kali Reinhardt foundation. This foundation

The Kali Reinhardt Leadership Fund was created within the Alpha Phi Foundation to support the leadership development of the women of the Alpha Phi Epsilon Chapter. It honors Kali Reinhardt, a member of the Epsilon chapter from 2014-2018, who passed away in 2020. Kali held numerous leadership positions within the chapter, including Chapter President or “Prez Mama” as she was lovingly referred to. She was an outspoken advocate for female empowerment and pushed all the women in the chapter to be bold, support one another & take action on the things that matter.

In her honor, this fund provides retreats, educational seminars, Alpha Phi international events, and sisterhoods to invest in bold, brave female leaders like Kali. 

Her legacy will go on in perpetuity.

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is a student branch of a larger professional organization dedicated to connecting students interested in Air and Space with other students, hobbyists, professionals, and academics in the Aeronautics and Astronautics field. The student group engages with the community in the technical, social, and professional aspects.

In the technical realm, UMN AIAA directly sponsors 3 project teams. The Design, Build, Fly team designs and build remote controlled and autonomous unmanned airplanes to accomplish the missions laid out by the competition! The Alpha Drone team is the state champion drone racing team at UMN. The CanSat design team designs and builds systems that complete a challenged after being released from a low altitude sounding rocket.

Socially, AIAA provides a safe and inclusive place to connect with other students and student groups. Events such as study and trivia nights help build friendships with like minded students! Additionally, AIAA works to improve the community around us, often in collaboration with the Twin Cities AIAA professional chapter. The group organizes outreach events to K-12 schools in the community. Furthermore, UMN AIAA has started a diversity and inclusivity initiative, holding technical development workshops to help give every student every opportunity to succeed.

Professionally, the AIAA student chapter hosts networking events and an aerospace oriented career fair to help connect students with internships and research opportunities! AIAA also provides scholarship and travel opportunities for interested and qualified students.

The mission of Anselm House is to promote the integration of the Christian faith with our studies at the university and to foster a community of students that seek lifelong engagement of faith and vocation.

We organize weekly by-students, for-students programming (Fridays@4), where we bring in Christian leaders who speak to the theme of "connecting faith and knowledge with all of life."

We've also organized more light-hearted events, like game nights to foster community and connection, or excursions in nature, where we can discuss our faith and our lives while taking in the natural beauty around us.

Axiom is a literary magazine at the U specializing in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, ART, mathematics). We’re looking for any type of art, whether it be visual (painting, digital art, sculpture, etc.) or literary (poetry, prose, etc.), as long as there is an element of STEM in your work, you’re eligible to submit to Axiom! Your work can be as detailed as a lab report or as subtle as a painting/poem about an element of nature. Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) club at the University of Minnesota is part of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Minnesota Chapter, which is nationwide grassroots nonprofit organization that gives current and potential hunters & anglers attending the University a foundation to enrich their conservation mindset and become active in civic engagement as it relates to public lands, waters, and wildlife. BHA gives aspiring hunter and anglers attending the University the tools and knowledge necessary to obtain a license and to hunt or fish safely, legally and ethically. Our goal is to connect University students to Backcountry Hunters & Anglers chapters to grow the BHA community, recognizing BHA's youthful energy is key to fostering the next generation of conservation-minded hunter, anglers and public land advocates.

Beginners with Brushes’ mission is to provide a relaxing and comfortable environment for all members to practice creativity through painting and socializing safely.

Once a week we will be holding an in-person painting club. Paint and supplies will be distributed and provided at each meeting. During our time together, members can socialize and paint/ stimulate their brains through their desired creative activities.

Our community values are focused on mental health and wellness. We support mental health by strongly encouraging creativity and community. The goal of this art club is for students of all majors and abilities to come together and support each other in being creative. Many of our leaders and members are coming from STEM majors and do not have many opportunities to express creativity in an accepting space. We create a strong community by encouraging all artists and focusing on the creative process and not the outcome. We create a fun and positive environment by playing music, not setting expectations, allowing room for error and growth, and making it a priority to socialize and relax.

The Bengali Student Society of Minnesota (BSSM) is a registered student organization of the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis that strives to promote inter-cultural exchange on campus by showcasing the different aspects of Indian, and particularly Bengali, culture. By organizing several events on campus throughout the year, BSSM tries to bring a flavor of East-Indian socio-cultural activities to the heart of Twin Cities.

BSSM was formed in 2005 by a small group of graduate students with the aim of bringing together Bengali students all over the campus. Over the years, BSSM has metamorphosed into a diverse student body representing the culture and traditions of West Bengal, Bangladesh and surrounding areas and currently has about 100 members. It has among our members, not only expatriates from these regions but also other people who have an interest in the Bengali culture and way of life.
As an association, we host various events throughout the year such as Durga Puja, known as one of the biggest festivals in India, Bengali new year celebrations, freshers' welcome parties and get-togethers. We celebrate Indian festivals intertwined with the essence of Bengali culture through food, music, dance, skit, etc. As we treat humanity as our religion, we welcome everybody, irrespective of their ethnic background, religion, and social status to join our activities and events to make our lives a little better and happier.

Beta of Clovia is an academic and social sorority located on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Founded in 1937, Clovia originally enabled college girls with 4-H backgrounds to live together while attending university. Through the years, Clovia has grown to include young women of many different backgrounds who participate in community service projects, a variety of campus activities and work to achieve high academic merit while studying at the University of Minnesota.

Beta of Clovia helps young women cultivate leadership skills, gain a sense of social identity, promote a sense of sisterhood, and engage with the community through service. Our members work to pursue life with Beta of Clovia’s seven purposes in mind.


The Seven Purposes of Clovia:

Biology Without Borders has a mission to serve the community first, both domestically and abroad, and second to develop future leaders in global health that are educated on ethical service that empowers others and that improves health to allow others to not only survive, but to thrive. Our primary projects for the upcoming year and summer include teaching English classes via Zoom with our partner abroad in Thailand (KWAT) and holding various events throughout the year to bring undergraduate students interested in global health together.

Welcome to Books & Beyond!

We’re always down to talk about books, and that’s a big part of our club, but we do so much more too. Every month we hold two meetings: one to discuss a book together and one to do a fun activity. We pick from different genres, authors, and styles, so that everyone has the chance to find something for them—whether it be a long-time favorite or a pleasant new discovery.

If books aren't really your thing, you might enjoy our second type of monthly meeting, where we meet up to watch a movie, play a game, or just hang out together. More than just a place for dispassionate analysis, we aim to create a caring community.

We also seek to engage with the wider community of Minneapolis, helping to support an exploration of literature and a love of reading however we can. by holding volunteering events in the cities.

All meetings are voluntary; we really just want everyone to have a good time! We know the school year can get super busy, so even if you don’t have time to read the book of the month, or you only read part of it, you are welcome at all meetings. If you don’t want to talk, that’s okay too. This is meant to be fun, so feel free to participate in the club however would be best for you.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an extremely effective martial art style in which technique and skill can allow smaller opponents to defeat larger, stronger opponents.
Our club is committed to offering basic level instruction in a safe and controlled training environment for anyone who is interested in learning.

UMN BJJ hosts training sessions on weeknights in addition to periodic seminars with experts from the Twin Cities community. In addition to fundamental training, our curriculum includes self-defense, competition prep, and fitness improvement.

Campus Cleanup Crew's mission is to make campus a cleaner, more beautiful place for everyone to enjoy. Our main activity will be cleaning up local parks, streets, and other unkept areas. We will also host events to discuss what areas of campus need service and brainstorm initiatives that aim to keep our campus pristine. There is no membership application and anyone is welcome to take part in this club. All you need to do is reach out to us through email (campuscc@umn.edu) and show up to clean! For our group, activism means taking initiative to make necessary, social change. All too often we see areas of campus cluttered with trash that can be blown into the Mississippi River which flows directly into our oceans. We want to alleviate this problem and bring awareness to it. The Carlson Investment Banking Network (CIBN) aims to prepare and assist students in all aspects of investment banking recruitment. The organization is selective and runs an application process at the start of the fall and spring semesters. The CEHD International Student Community (CISC) represents international students pursuing education at the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). The aims of CISC are:

Emphasizing the sense of community and adequate oral health within younger generations, Children's Dental Health Advocates (CDHA) drives to raise awareness about the importance of oral healthcare specifically to the lower income students that go to elementary schools in the inner-cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Through fun activities and events hosted by our members, volunteering from our club as a whole, donation of dental supplies, enjoyable educational videos, and so much more. Our mission is to showcase the importance of oral health care especially at a young age, while establishing meaningful relationships and fun memories with the youth!

Some other activities include:
- Tooth brush tally competition between each classroom. This is where we give kids in each classroom at an elementary school a tally chart for each day they brush and floss. The most tallies from a classroom and their students, that classroom will be the winner amongst all the other classrooms and win prizes!
- Host community wide painting/ drawing competition between different elementary schools and their students. Winner will recieve dental supplies and cute awards!
- Have fundraising stands, and events up to help raise money!

The Community Engagement Scholars Program (CESP) is a program for students who want to make a commitment to community engagement during their undergraduate experience. Students complete 400 hours of community engagement work, participate in reflective workshops and assignments, and complete a 1 credit senior capstone project. Because of the rigorous nature of the program, students are also recognized by the Board of Regents with a notation on their official transcript and a medal of distinction. The program is open to all undergraduate students in every major and college. Delta Phi Omega was founded on the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities campus on May 1, 2011. The hard work of nine passionate founding mothers has now grown into a network of over 50 sisters. UMTC Colony has walked away with several national awards, and dedicates its time and service to Children's Literacy and Education. We have also been recognized on campus for our recruitment and contributions to Multicultural Greek Life. Sisters from our colony have been recognized as Woman of the Year and as Multicultural Greek Council's President and Secretary. We hope in the coming years that Multicultural Greek Life continues to flourish on this beautiful campus!

Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Inc. is steadfast in its mission to transcend the traditional notions of a sorority by utilizing the power and passion of our sisterhood. Through our commitment to service, the sisters of Delta Phi Omega go above and beyond to ensure the spirit of volunteerism lives on. Our paramount objective to bring awareness and continual support to children's education and literacy. The sisters of Delta Phi Omega are doing their part to ensure that each child is given the power to read and obtain a befitting education, by educating the public on the epidemic of illiteracy, fundraising for our philanthropic partners, and volunteering in literacy and educational settings. This mission has been realized most publicly through the sorority's annual Literacy Through Unity week, a national initiative which to date has raised over $34,000 for children's education and literacy.

Open to a limited number of UMN students, FETCH members are able to explore and learn more about the service animal industry, assist with the hands-on training of service dogs, and volunteer with Can Do Canines, a local service animal provider. Past students have provided short-term fostering and trained their own service dogs in-training in their residence halls or campus apartments.

FETCH participants will work in pairs to care for and train a service dog that lives in their room with them for a portion of the fall and/or spring semester. All supplies, food, and veterinary care are provided by the program, so there is not an additional cost for members. Participants are required to attend several bi-monthly training sessions while they are working with the service animal.

FETCH Club is an extension of the FETCH LLC located at Bailey Hall in St. Paul.

Our group works to promote student wellness and health by providing student resources pertaining to sexual health, healthy relationships, and pregnancy options. We refer to First Care Pregnancy Center which is a free and confidential clinic on campus that offers STD testing/treatment, pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, pregnancy counseling, parenting education/support, adoption services, and post-abortion support. We hold monthly meetings for members to connect and contribute ideas to the group and offer various volunteering opportunities through the First Care Clinic and New Life Family Services during the year.

How can someone get involved with your group?

We welcome all to attend our meetings and volunteering opportunities! We ask that members of the group fill out a membership application if they decide this is a community they would like to be a part of. Food Recovery Network @ University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
Mission: Fighting food waste and feeding people.

What We Do: To serve our mission, we recover surplus food that would otherwise go to waste from on-campus dining locations weekly, and deliver it to the People Serving People shelter or Loaves & Fishes who then distribute it to those experiencing food insecurity in the Twin Cities community. This not only feeds and strengthens our people, but diverts food from landfills where it can decompose and emit harmful greenhouse gases. FRN @ UMN-TC is able to recover +5,000 lbs of food/year.
A couple goals are: to expand our capacity with more cars, and partner with more sporting events to recover from.

We always welcome more volunteer members - especially those with a car on campus to transport food! Leadership positions are open, please reach out if you're interested! This is a super low key volunteer opportunity with no standing meetings, volunteers can put in anywhere between 0-1 hr a week.

From forward rolls to double fronts, we bond over one thing- gymnastics. We offer competitive and non-competitive options for all of our members and are a proud member club of the National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC).

The University of Minnesota Gymnastics Club practices in the University of Minnesota D1 men's and women's facilities. Our facilities contain equipment for all men's and women's apparatuses, including a foam pit, 40' x 40' competitive floor, uneven bars, balance beam, vault, high bar, parallel bars, pommel horse, and rings.

We offer open-gym-style practices, ensuring that you can work on what you want to work on, at your own personalized pace. We always begin practices with group stretches and line warm-ups. Each week we will listen to a podcast and review it. We will also bring in our own research and make our own protocols for optimizing health and well-being. Like a book club, but for albums!

The mission of Hook Club is to form a musically-diverse group of students, unravel the complex motives of artists’ work, provide understanding to songs & albums, express individual thoughts in an open-minded group, and make friends that all share the same passion. We want to delve deeper into the cultural and emotional significance of the music we listen to, and we care about exploring the significance of albums as cohesive bodies of work.


Meetings are held every Monday (unless stated otherwise) in Akerman 225 at 530PM.

Each meeting, we begin by going around the room and sharing our name, pronouns, and an artist we've been listening to recently. Then we discuss the album for that week, sharing the themes, cultural context, and our personal experiences of listening to the album. At the end of the meeting, we provide a rating (1-5) of our enjoyment of the album, then we collectively nominate and choose our next album of discussion.

To get involved all you need is to listen to the album a few times before the meeting and come ready to discuss! After you've attended two consecutive meetings, you can become an official member by consulting with one of the officers.

Hook Club is a fun, relaxed, and open atmosphere to discuss the music that you love (or hate!) with people you care about. We see each other more often than we see our family, so we make sure to get to know each other and really value the time we have.

Formerly known as the Investment and Finance Organization (InFO), the Investment Banking Club (IBC) is the only club at the University of Minnesota devoted to educating students about careers in investment banking, private equity, and other non-corporate finance roles. The purpose of this Chapter of Material Advantage (MA) shall be to promote among its members a self-sought increasing knowledge of metallurgy, ceramics, materials science and engineering and all its branches and to instill a professional pride in their chosen life work. This is done through social, professional, academic, and outreach events, competitions, and meetings, all focused on materials science and engineering. This includes monthly group meetings, which all have some social component, as well as additional activities to benefit any student in attendance. We also host outreach events every semester, wherein members volunteer to go into the community and present about materials science through presentations and demonstrations. The group's professional connections provide members the opportunity to network with professionals in materials science from companies all around the Twin Cities. Minnesota Hillel is the Jewish student center for the U of M and other twin cities college campuses. It exists to provide social, cultural, educational, social action and Israel related programs and opportunities to Jewish students, and to provide educational opportunities about Judaism to the non-Jewish population.

Join us on all holidays, Shabbatot and beyond. Our programs range from a Hannukah party, to charity events, to programs educating and exposing people to Jewish customs and culture. We hold programs on all Jewish holidays (and campus ones!) and provide unique services and meals on Shabbatot. WHO WE ARE

Minnesota Long Form Improv (MLFI) is the only long-form improv group on campus! If you're not familiar, improv comedy can be divided into two categories: short-form and long-form. Short-form focuses more on quick jokes as seen on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" But, with long-form improv, we focus on building a real story with characters, a setting, and a plot (in a funny way!) This is a wonderful opportunity to make life-long friends, build your communication, performing and quick-thinking skills, and gain leadership experience by becoming a board member or troupe coach.

THE AUDITION PROCESS

Our club holds auditions in the early Fall to select a new improv troupe of 8-12 individuals. No improv or performing experience is necessary to audition! We have people of all majors and backgrounds in our troupes. One reason MLFI is amazing is once you are selected to be in one troupe, and there is no need to worry about auditioning ever again. You will stick with your troupe throughout your entire college experience and gain some awesome, hilarious friends. We appreciate auditionees who can commit to a flexibly scheduled weekly practice time.

Additionally, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A FRESHMAN TO AUDITION FOR OUR INCOMING FIRST-YEAR TEAM! Even before COVID, first-year teams were made up of Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors. A troupe stays part of MLFI until ALL team-members graduate. So, if you are in a troupe and you graduate before everyone else, still feel free to attend practices and shows if you are around!

SHOWS!!

MLFI hosts shows once a month on campus in the 10th Church Street building. We perform once a month on a Friday evening.! These shows are open to the public, so we see crowds of 100+ people! These performances allow us to show off our hard work to audiences, as well as see the other troupes perform.

SOCIAL EVENTS

When we are not practicing or performing, we also have club events (private and public) and post-show gatherings to get to know all the other troupes. We recently hosted a successful “Improv Palooza” with troupes from different schools, as well as the short-form team and the UMN's Comedy Club. We hope to continue to broaden improv's reach on campus, and would love for you to audition with us!

Welcome to the Minnesota Swim Club! We are dedicated to building a strong and competitive swimming culture at the University of Minnesota. The club is open to anyone with a history in competitive swimming, from short careers in high school or club teams and up. During fall and spring semesters, we have 3 structured practices a week written by the officers (attendance not required), typically on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights. The first week consists of 3 free trial practices for potential members to see if the club is for them! We participate in meets at other universities, host a meet in the fall semester, and send qualified swimmers to the College Club Swimming National Championships spring semester. We also host a variety of social events throughout the year to get to know the team!

MinnesoTap is a student-run tap dance company at the University of Minnesota that provides an educational and artistic opportunity not currently offered by any of the university's programs, and promotes a cultural and historical awareness of one of the few truly American art forms.

We hold rehearsals twice a week and perform at events both on-campus and across the Twin Cities. We also host master classes, educate about tap history, and hold bonding events for members to get to know one another and create a supportive community outside of academics. All of our choreography is created by members, so our rehearsals are a great opportunity to try new tap styles and enhance technique.

The Muslim Students Association is an organization committed to making Muslim students on the University campus feel comfortable by providing prayer locations and organizing events and religious celebrations, such as Ramadan Iftars, Eidrageous, Islam Awareness Week, and Halaqas (religious/educational discussions) among others. The Panhellenic Council (PHC) serves as the unifying and governing body for 14 sororities at the University of Minnesota. The PHC legislative body is composed of the council's executive board and delegates from each of the member chapters. While this year has changed so much in our world one thing has remained certain; our need for community & connection. As the U of M's only Jewish sorority, we provide a strong & creative community for Jewish women on campus. Our sisterhood has fun events, study nights, and holiday programming. We love spending time with our sisters doing everything from wellness activities, bake-offs, apple picking, and game nights. Our sisterhood combines the community-building experience (through events) with emphasis on scholarship and philanthropy. All while putting our values first. Even though we focus on Jewish values and are technically a Jewish-Interest sorority, you do not need to identify as Jewish to become a member. Our sisterhood is a welcoming and safe space for all to find their home on campus while being supported by strong womxn.

In order to get involved in our sisterhood, we ask that potential new members first reach out to our Rush Chair. They are happy to meet you on zoom for a coffee date to not only get to know you but to help you get to know our sisterhood. From there you are welcome to attend our Rush events and/or programs with our sisters to learn about our organization, values, and philanthropy. All you need to do to receive a bid for membership from us is to show up to 3 of 5 events and actively participate. The vision of our SKY@UMN club is to promote a stress-free, violence-free environment within our campus community. Our past events have attracted participation from students hailing from 5 different continents. Here’s an excerpt from feedback given by one of our participants: “....felt peace and comfort in this environment with complete strangers.”

The overarching purpose of the SKY at UMN club is to serve the university and the student body of the University and every program offered is to be evaluated on the basis of this criterion. The intent is to provide secular breath and meditation-based programs that provide healthy stress management and leadership tools and techniques for the University of Minnesota students. Recommended engagement with universities includes but is not limited to health and wellness/leadership/service-learning/stress management workshops, events, meetings.

Breathwork, meditation, and self-awareness practices are extremely useful tools for combating stress, anxiety and negative emotions. However, many students do not have a proper channel to learn these skills. Our club provides a safe, inclusive, and diverse environment for students to develop tools to manage negative emotions, using evidence-based breathwork and meditation techniques. At the SKY Campus Happiness Club, we welcome students of all backgrounds, races and ethnicities to all our events.

Creating a strong-knit community of students who are enthusiastic about physical and mental well-being forms the basic principle of the SKY Campus Happiness Club. Participants are invited to subsequent events of the club and are given an option to enroll for our club newsletter. Our club hosts regular events like the Wellness Hour as well as other events focused on promoting mental wellness. The workshop creates a safe space for students where they feel comfortable in their own skin and can let their guard down.

Smash Club's mission is to provide a social space on campus for people with the shared interest of playing the game Super Smash Bros in all its iterations. We have weekly meetings which include an Ultimate or Melee tournaments and friendlies as well as other games people wish to setup. Once or twice a semester, we also host a large tournament where we invite the larger Minnesota smash community to participate in our events. Our members include competitive smash players, but we also welcome casual players! We strive to provide a welcoming space for anyone interested in the game at any level. Special Olympics at the University of Minnesota aims to provide unified programs for students and Special Olympics athletes to further the Unified movement. To do so, we partner with Special Olympics Minnesota, Minneapolis Transition Plus, Hopkins Transition Plus, Highland Friendship Club, and several other organizations to provide meaningful experiences for people with disabilities. This includes weekly unified intramural (basketball, flag football, pickleball, soccer), Polar Plunge, monthly meetings, various outings, and one-off events such as bowling, kickball, etc... In 2023 we had the opportunity to march in the University of Minnesota homecoming parade, play football in Huntington Bank Stadium, attend twins games, have dance parties, and create life-long friendships. The University Speech Team is a student-led, collegiate speech team that aims to hone public speaking and argumentation skills while having fun! The team travels across the country to compete in speech tournaments between September and April, including national tournaments like the National Forensic Association (NFA) and the American Forensic Association (AFA).

There are 11 different events students may participate in that span public address, limited preparation, and interpretation. Past speeches have included an informative speech about crafting as a form of activism, a humorous speech about how racial imposter syndrome disproportionately impacts multiracial people, and a dramatic interpretation of the ongoing gaslighting of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Most importantly, the team strives to support students' academic journeys, develop friendships with speakers nationwide, and uplift students to be authentic. Through speech, we hope students discover communications skills they can use to advocate for a more just world. Past speakers have pursued law degrees, PhDs in communication, careers in journalism, and many more professional endeavors!

Students in the University of Minnesota dance program created a student group called, Dance Production. The goal is to plan, create, and facilitate a one-day show that displays the many avenues of art that is present both on campus and in the twin cities. This spring semester, Dance Production is facilitating a multidisciplinary arts festival, which has been titled, Make: Magnify. This festival, scheduled for April 13, 2024, includes both student and community artists. These artists can be dancers, musicians, sculptors, painters, lighting designers, collagists, etc. For the festival, Dance Production is also planning on working with ASL interpreters, stage managers, and lighting designers to not only create a successful arts festival but to allow students the chances of gaining experience in working behind the scenes of an arts show as well.

The mission of SEDS at UMN is to connect students interested in aerospace/astronomy to resources to expand their opportunities within the disciplines. We are affiliated with Students for the Exploration and Development of Space nationally, which is an organization that connects students to national space conferences, project competitions, funding for student-proposed projects, and much more. There are also many post-graduation benefits of membership, such as future membership in the National Space Society, the Society of Satellite Professionals International, and the SEDS-USA Alumni Association. The organization itself is partnered with many prominent space research companies, such as NASA, SpaceX, SSPI, International Space University, and the American Astronautical Society.

The group will host a wide variety of events and activities. We will have general meetings monthly, and we will try to get some professional speakers in aerospace/astronomy related fields to give short talks to the group about the work they do and how they reached their goals. We will also host fun events such as movie nights, trivia, and more. Sub-teams may be developed for SEDS project competitions, which would have their own meetings and events. We hope to attend a national SEDS conference at some point to connect with other schools and network with companies that are significant in the industry.

Minnesota is home to one of the largest Horn of Africa communities in the country, so we place great important in fostering a group that allows the UMN to be involved and be a part of the conversation! The Alpha Iota chapter of Tau Beta Sigma promotes greater bands through service, social, and fundraising activities for band communities in and around the University of Minnesota. We donate our time to the bands through service projects like teaching high school students to chair step march at our Band Clinic Day, organizing donation drives, stage-handing at School of Music concerts and organizing musical events at venues around campus and Minneapolis. Our chapter also hosts social activities such as an ice cream social, a formal riverboat dance function, and de-stress nights for band members. Of course, we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without fundraising. We hold a Penny Wars fundraiser fueled by inter-section competition, participate in profit-sharing, host bake sales, and sell marching band apparel. We use proceeds to fund band scholarships and other donation and service projects. Our combination of service, social, and fundraising activities allow us to fulfill Tau Beta Sigma's mission of serving bands through cultivating leadership, educational achievement, music appreciation, and community development while promoting equality and diversity, including empowering women in the band profession.

Tau Sigma is an academic honor society designed specifically to "recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students."

Our group host study events and social events throughout the semester for members to interact and help them build a community with other transfer students and Tau Sigma members. We host an annual induction ceremony for new members and host a dinner with an Office of Undergraduate Education administrator each semester.
Membership in Tau Sigma is available to students after they complete their 1st semester at the U of M. This is because membership is based upon students' 1st semester U of M GPA (3.5 or higher), completion of a full load of credits that semester on an A-F grading basis, and the number of credits transferred to the U of M. Students who are eligible for admission to Tau Sigma are automatically sent an invitation to join at that time.

Our group works to create a fun and positive environment for its members by hosting multiple events throughout the semester to help members foster a sense of community within the transfer students community and the university community as a whole. We also partner with the University Transfer Students Board to host some events and help expand the community within university transfer students.

Telsa Works Projects: Tesla Works also runs 1-3 projects every year that require a large community effort to create. One of these projects is Lightshow where every winter a expansive light-show is sequenced with music.

Continuing the legacy of Sensei Robert Fusaro, the Traditional Karate-Do Academy at UMN teaches traditional Shotokan karate from the foundations of Master Hidetaka Nishiyama. The club is affiliated with the American Amateur Karate Federation (AAKF), Nishiyama’s national karate organization founded in 1979. TKA at UMN provides a safe and welcoming environment for students of all levels to learn and practice. Along with learning karate techniques and self-defense skills, members will develop confidence, self discipline, and increased awareness of mind-body connection. In additional to multiple trainings a week, belt testing is held every three months, and members have opportunities to participate in seminars and tournaments throughout the year

Twin Cities Bhangra is the only Bhangra team at the University of Minnesota! Bhangra is an energetic and colorful style of dance that originates in Punjab.
