About Us

The purpose of the Minnesota Sailing Team is to give University of Minnesota students the chance to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of sailing. Our mission is to provide instructional and competitive sailing opportunities, to promote the sport within the wider community, to offer leadership development through officer roles, and to create a welcoming social environment for all members.

We practice three times a week at the Minneapolis Sailing Center and regularly travel on weekends to compete with other teams across the Midwest. Beyond the water, we host social events and recruitment activities to strengthen our team community and share our love for sailing with others.

Leadership is a central part of our organization. Every member has the chance to run for a board position, and those who serve gain valuable experience in organizing practices, coordinating travel, managing budgets, and representing the team.

Above all, we strive to create a positive and inclusive space where anyone can learn to sail, enjoy Minnesota’s lakes, and build lasting friendships.
