The Aging Studies Interdisciplinary Group (ASIG) is a collaborative organization for graduate, professional, and undergraduate students studying aging in programs across the University. ASIG is student led and promotes the development of critical engagement across disciplines and explores diverse approaches to knowledge and inquiry related to aging education and research.

Together we:

Encourage thoughtful discussions about approaching issues around aging,
Explore different theoretical perspectives, methodological approaches, and changing conceptualizations of knowledge in aging,
Provide concrete opportunities for students to hone professional skills,
Focus on theoretical and pragmatic aspects of gerontology, and
Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration

The Arts and Medicine group is a place for medical students and other health professionals to engage with and learn about written, 2D, and performance media from/with their classmates in medicine, and from professionals who have found means of bringing their art into the medical sphere. The group is a collection of medical students from both Twin Cities and Duluth campuses who are interested in elevating the arts and humanities within medicine. We have several committees, with focuses on Music, Dance, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Writing.

The Public Health Review is a graduate student-led, online, peer-reviewed, open-access public health journal that is published by the University of Minnesota Libraries. We publish two issues per year: in June and December. We provide students, alumni, and professionals from any discipline or affiliation the opportunity to publish public health-related material in a peer-reviewed journal. The affiliation with the University of Minnesota Libraries publishing arm allows articles submitted through this platform to be indexed and cited by other scholarly work.

The Public Health Review also has a podcast called Perspectives. Here, we bring to you a series of conversations on a wide variety of public health topics, providing you with perspectives on public health issues from the community, academic, and professional fields.

The Science and Engineering Student Board (SESB) is the official undergraduate governing body of the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering (CSE). SESB aims to promote collaboration between students, student groups, staff, and faculty, as well as academic and social engagement in CSE through its numerous yearly events. SESB provides students with regular opportunities for service and outreach to the University and neighboring communities. SESB offers students the opportunity to gain leadership experience and prepares them to bridge the gap between college and life beyond the University. Members are expected to attend bi-weekly meetings and participate in the planning of several events throughout the semester. SESB is open to all students at the University.

The Student National Medical Association is a national organization that has existed since the 1960s dedicated towards mentoring and providing for underrepresented minorities (URM) in medicine. The University of Minnesota's Twin Cities Chapter has existed for the past decade operating under the Center of Multicultural Affairs and Engagement. We are dedicated towards serving underrepresented communities in Minnesota. We have done this for the past several years through providing mentorship opportunities for URM in undergraduate through our MAPS mentorship program, providing care supervised under physicians through community events including the state fair and our annual health fair. We are dedicated towards continuing this lasting legacy which is why we are re-applying for our group after it through Gopherlink.

For over 30 years, we have sought to spread the love and understanding of ballroom dancing throughout the University community and Twin Cities metro area. Welcome to the page for the University of Minnesota Fencing Club!

Whether you've been fencing for a long time, or have never tried it before, we encourage all students with an interest in fencing to join our club.

We practice with drills and bouting, and fence against other schools in the Midwestern Fencing Conference at competitions throughout the year (including University of Wisconsin, University of Iowa, Northwestern University, and Lawrence University), and host several individual tournaments at the University Recreation and Wellness Center per year.

Our current practice schedule is Mondays and Thursdays from 6pm-9pm, Tuesdays from 6pm-8pm, and Saturdays from 1pm-3pm in Cooke 308 (enter through the RecWell main entrance). If you have even a slight interest in fencing, we hope to see you there!

Minnesota Men’s Crew is a nationally competitive rowing team open to all students. Most of our team members began with no rowing experience before stepping foot in the boathouse, so we welcome anyone looking to learn something new, work hard in a fun team atmosphere, and reach a level of rowing that challenges even some of the D1 collegiate rowing programs across the country! With a supportive, competitive, and motivating environment, our club strives to help members grow as athletes and individuals.

During the school year, our team practices on the Mississippi River in the late afternoon Monday-Friday and Saturday mornings. During the winter months, we continue to practice by utilizing equipment at the Irene Claudia Kroll Boathouse. During the fall and spring semesters, we compete against other collegiate programs at home and away regattas on some weekends. This includes the ACRA National Championship Regatta where we face some of the top club rowing programs in the country to wrap up our spring season!

-We are a competitive sports club which strives to add value in any and every way to each team member’s college experience.
-We are a competitive sports club, so we are always training for upcoming competitions against other colleges’ teams. We compete in both 15s and 7s rugby against schools such as Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas, among others. We also compete in national tournaments in both the fall and spring.
-If you are interested in joining the team, we are interested in having you join us. The amount of prior experience playing rugby or any other sport does not matter. We are a no cut team, and there is a spot for players of all skill levels; we love to teach our sport to new players. The Tae Kwon Do Club is a small but dedicated club that provides a space to learn and practice Tae Kwon Do. Additionally, we also teach self-defense, tricking, grappling, and general conditioning. Anyone can join any practice at any date, as long as they show up ready for exercise!

Tae Kwon Do is an excellent workout and helps develop both strength and flexibility. We also have an amazing community of members with shared interests, but greatly diverse experiences and backgrounds, inside and outside of Tae Kwon Do.

Our club is a competitive women's rugby team. We welcome everyone, regardless of prior experience or skill level. We strive to provide a holistic, team-oriented experience on and off the field. We work to develop the skills of the individual athlete while also playing with a strong team mindset at a highly competitive level. We create an environment for all our players past, present, and future to grow both as athletes, and as empowered young women.
During a normal season we practice up to three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. On Saturdays, we travel to and play against other universities in our division. Travel to and from games is provided for all players, and practices are held on campus and easily accessible by university buses.


Minnesota has a very strong rugby community and our team is lucky to be a part of it. We actively work to engage with our alumni to provide current players with meaningful connections and opportunities within the community and beyond the team. We also work to provide a positive and fun environment for all club members.

VeTouch is a non-profit veterinary student club that provides basic pet care and nutritional support to low or no-income Twin Cities families. The volunteers are veterinary students who also have the opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience while promoting the human-animal bond and establishing a client-veterinary relationship. These students work under the guidance of licensed veterinarians and certified veterinary technicians. We hold clinics on the first Sunday of each month at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church.

Our organization gives vet students and pre-vet students an opportunity to apply the knowledge they learn in class and gain important skills that they will use in their future careers.

To get involved students need to sign up with vetouch@umn.edu and fill out provided liability forms. We accept pre-vet volunteers as well.
