About Us

Alpha Chi Sigma is a co-ed professional chemistry fraternity that seeks to unite students with a love of chemistry and of the sciences in general. We also strive to teach others about the wonders of the chemical sciences through outreach activities in the community.

What Do We Do?

*Community Outreach*
We participate in a variety of outreach events across the Twin Cities where we conduct chemical demonstrations for children, families, or more general audiences. Alpha Chi Sigma also organizes an annual Scouts BSA merit badge day where our members teach chemistry and engineering-related merit badges.

*Professional Development*
Professional events help connect members of the chapter with alumni of the fraternity who work in industry or academia, as well as UMN faculty. We work to connect each other with unique research and internship opportunities and help our members form a network of friends and colleagues in the field of chemistry.

Our fraternity cares deeply about the welfare of its members and seeks to create a friendly and positive environment in every way possible. Members of Alpha Chi Sigma are heavily encouraged to support each other academically, mentally, and emotionally. Weekly study hours present an opportunity for members to collaborate or work individually on schoolwork, and we remind our members to focus on their academics and mental health first.

We are a student group on campus that pairs with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities to fundraise and organize a day for young children to visit the University in hopes of sparking their interest in attending college one day. Additionally, we work to recruit new Bigs and strengthen Big and Little relationships.

Mission
Emphasizing the sense of community and adequate oral health within younger generations, Children's Dental Health Advocates (CDHA) drives to raise awareness about the importance of oral healthcare specifically to the lower income students that go to elementary schools in the inner-cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Through fun activities and events hosted by our members, volunteering from our club as a whole, donation of dental supplies, enjoyable educational videos, and so much more. Our mission is to showcase the importance of oral health care especially at a young age, while establishing meaningful relationships and fun memories with the youth!

Some other activities include:
- Tooth brush tally competition between each classroom. This is where we give kids in each classroom at an elementary school a tally chart for each day they brush and floss. The most tallies from a classroom and their students, that classroom will be the winner amongst all the other classrooms and win prizes!
- Host community wide painting/ drawing competition between different elementary schools and their students. Winner will recieve dental supplies and cute awards!
- Have fundraising stands, and events up to help raise money!

Our mission is to inspire, unite, and educate the Twin-Cities community to bring ongoing awareness and support to the incredible kids and families to Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare. At University of Minnesota Dance Marathon we welcome anyone who wants to become involved! We are proud to offer three levels of involvement as we understand that college is a crazy time and sometimes availability can be hard to come by. If you want to subscribe to our emails and stay up to date on events that we are hosting you can most certainly be a participant! Just go to our Instagram, @umn_dm, and send them a direct message to get to on our email list! If you want to be a donor, you can search "University of Minnesota Dance Marathon Donor Drive" and donate to our cause! And finally if you want to become involved in our leadership team to help us plan our events as well as create a sense of community on campus we would love to have you! On our leadership we have multiple committees that allow you to further your career as well. You pick from our PR, fundraising, recruitment, sponsorship, event planning, family relations, and our finance team! You can email dance@umn.edu and we will be more than happy to send you a calendar invite for our leadership meetings! We meet weekly, date and time to be determined!

Welcome to "For Good Measure"! This group is focused on providing education to homeless children around the Twin Cities. Many children facing homelessness lack quality education. We want to make kids feel excited about learning and inspired to enter career fields they didn’t know existed and help them gain confidence in entering their desired career path. We will gift them with gift baskets and care baskets to help them through the difficult points of their life they are facing now. Through age-appropriate brochures and presentations, we will help them learn about a variety of the many wonderful things in the world.

Members of the club “For Good Measure” will be able to grow as a person. Through this club, individuals will have the opportunity to strengthen their skills in communication, teamwork, leadership, teaching, and working with a variety of young ages. In addition, members will have the opportunity to network with peers and local communities in and around the Twin Cities. Members will also be able to gain a sense of community through volunteering in association with local homeless shelters, which will allow members to gain volunteer hours! Through our volunteer services, members will be able to use their current knowledge about their majors and minors to teach and inspire homeless children to better prepare them for their future career choices.

The mission of Operation Smile at the University of Minnesota is to support global efforts to provide life-changing cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries to children in under-resourced regions lacking access to safe and affordable surgical care. As a chapter of the international nonprofit Operation Smile—an organization delivering medical care and education in more than 40 countries—we contribute to closing the global healthcare gap through fundraising, education, and advocacy. By hosting a chapter at UMN, our student body is better equipped to make a meaningful impact through volunteering, fundraising, and awareness efforts. Our chapter at UMN strives to empower students to take action, build community, and raise support. At UMN, we organize numerous events such as kickball tournaments, bingo nights, tie blanket making, and card writing for surgery recipients, fostering a light-hearted, inclusive environment where all are welcome. We collaborate with other campus groups that share interests in healthcare, medical relief, and philanthropy, offering opportunities for students to gain insights into global surgical disparities and oral health. The mission of PCRF-UMN is to raise awareness and support for the humanitarian and medical relief work of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. We are dedicated to advocating for children impacted by war, conflict, and poverty in the Middle East through education, outreach, and fundraising. By building a strong network of University of Minnesota students and collaborating with campus and community partners, we strive to advance PCRF’s mission locally and globally while fostering a culture of compassion, inclusion, and social responsibility.

Our organization advocates on behalf of UNICEF: spreading awareness about the challenges children face around the world. From struggling every day to survive, going to school, or escaping conflict and disaster. We also fundraise on behalf of UNICEF Clubs: UNICEF has helped save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization. They operate solely on voluntary donations. UNICEF Club at UMN will fundraise in support of children’s survival, access to safe water, nutrition, health care, and protection from violence, exploitation and abuse. On top of that, we volunteer in the community to help ensure that every child is safe, healthy and has access to a quality education. We also provide social activities and events for the membership.
