AddMig aims to foster interest in addiction medicine amongst medical students, support community access to addiction medicine resources, and advocate for improved care for those affected by addiction. To this end, we hold school-wide events that provide information about addiction medicine, highlight the work of addiction medicine scholars and clinicians, and provide resources for students and community members interested in learning more.

The Aging Studies Interdisciplinary Group (ASIG) is a collaborative organization for graduate, professional, and undergraduate students studying aging in programs across the University. ASIG is student led and promotes the development of critical engagement across disciplines and explores diverse approaches to knowledge and inquiry related to aging education and research.

Together we:

Encourage thoughtful discussions about approaching issues around aging,
Explore different theoretical perspectives, methodological approaches, and changing conceptualizations of knowledge in aging,
Provide concrete opportunities for students to hone professional skills,
Focus on theoretical and pragmatic aspects of gerontology, and
Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration

AIChE is here to support academic success by bringing chemical engineers together and creating a space to allow them to build relationships to better support themselves throughout their academic career. Our mission is to create a community within the Chemical Engineering field here at the University of Minnesota. We strive to enhance the lifelong career development of chemical engineers through exchange of information and collaborative efforts among industry, university, and professional groups.

We focus on the future careers and internships of our members by bringing in various companies to talk about themselves and their job openings as well as providing opportunities for members to learn more about what a career in research might look like.

The Astronomy Club strives to build a community of students with an interest in astronomy and to promote awareness of astronomical events. In practice, members gather for game nights, astronomy trivia, professor talks, space presentations, stargazing nights, and outreach events. For astro majors, it is a great way to meet other astro majors, and for other majors, it's a great way to get your astronomy fix! We know being an astro nerd and being an astro major don't always go hand-in-hand, so we gladly welcome students from all across the university to talk about space. The mission of the College of Biological Sciences (CBS) Student Events Board is to work with students, faculty, and staff within CBS and across the University to create an environment that is welcoming and fosters a sense of community. The Community Engagement Scholars Program (CESP) is a program for students who want to make a commitment to community engagement during their undergraduate experience. Students complete 400 hours of community engagement work, participate in reflective workshops and assignments, and complete a 1 credit senior capstone project. Because of the rigorous nature of the program, students are also recognized by the Board of Regents with a notation on their official transcript and a medal of distinction. The program is open to all undergraduate students in every major and college. The Community Engagement Scholars Program Leaders Board works to build community within the program by planning social events, hosting student-led conferences, leading workshops, and encouraging UMN students to join CESP.

The Commuter Connection aims to foster a relationship between commuter students and the University of Minnesota campus community. Our purpose is to simply provide a welcoming space, both physical and digital, for commuter students to interact with one another and gain access to campus resources.

Our space in the Memorial Union, Room 204, is open to all students but is specifically targeted towards the needs and interests of commuter students. Our room provides storage space, free printing, microwave, fridge, utensils, and leisure space that fit the needs of many students who commute to campus. In addition to these resources, our room is also a space where commuter students can meet, get to know one another, and build a sense of community. Finding opportunities to connect with other students outside of the classroom is essential in the commuter student experience. We host events such as Scary-Oke, Pal-entine's Day, game nights, Muffin Mondays, and more to encourage students to create long lasting relationships that will follow them through their time as a student at the U of M. We are also open to collaborations with other student groups, including the wonderful cultural centers that we share space with at the Memorial Union. Some of our other programming includes our Discord server, and other virtual forms of programming and communication.
